Weekend Recap

Why do the weekends fly by? One moment I'm driving home on Friday afternoon and before I know it Monday morning has rolled right back around and I'm driving back to work.

Thankfully we packed in fun and rest over the weekend so at least I feel like it was time worth spent even if the time went by too quickly.

Friday night we kept things calm and just sat at the house. We went to bed early so we could wake up bright and early and enjoy every second of the beautiful weather.

Saturday morning I cooked us a big breakfast so we could fuel up for a day outside. At ten that morning we walked over to my sister's house to play.

Little Miss Maybree is sooooo close to rolling over. My sister and I both kept recording because it seemed like she was going to do it any second. Of course, she didn't but she got so close.

After hanging with my sister for about an hour we headed back home so we could play outside. My dad put Jack in a tree and Jack LOVED it. He wasn't scared at all and when he got him down he kept begging to get back in the tree. I see broken bones in his future.

We played outside for several hours. We blew bubbles, swung, jumped on the trampoline, ran around, played basketball, and made holes in the dirt. Jack and my newphew Bennett absolutely loved chasing the bubbles. Bubbles always remind me of the simpleness of childhood. The enjoyment they get from trying to bust the bubbles is so sweet and precious.

At three I took Jack to my sister's house and headed out for a girls night out. It had been awhile and I may have been too excited. We spent a few hours just talking on my friend's porch and then went and saw Ward Davis play at a place called The River

We stayed out until 2 am. Y'all I haven't done that in forever and boy did I feel it the next day. It was worth it for the memories. We danced. I can't remember the last time I danced and my legs are feeling it. Oh to be young again. A night out takes more time to recover from than the time I spent out. I'm disappointed that we didn't get a group picture. We are the worst about remembering to take pictures. We don't see each other nearly enough so we are gabbing it up.

We did get a few details worked out for our beach trip in September. I'm even more excited now that we have picked a place to stay and a few places to eat and things we want to do. I haven't been to the beach in 8 years so a beach trip is way overdue.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. The weather was gorgeous here and I hope it is here to stay for awhile. Before we know it the summer heat will be upon us so I'll take all these spring-like days we can get.

  2. Ha, weekends? What are those?! They feel likes days of the week for me, only tougher. We have our toddler in preschool so when he's off, he makes sure we get our "workout" in.

As for staying out late, tell me about it! I've been such a grandma these days. But, there's nothing wrong with dancing the night away.

Cheers to such a wonderful weekend with family!

  3. What a great weekend!! Glad you got to squeeze in tons of fun with Jack & with your girls. Your beach trip planning sounds like a blast :)

  4. Sounds like a great weekend! I love when I can manage to fit in some chill time, time with family, and time with friends all in short order like that! It really makes life feel full, doesn't it? Glad you were able to enjoy your days off!

  5. Awww! I am missing when my baby didn't roll over because now he's getting into EVERYTHING. The weekends seem to be the time to squeeze it all in and while I can find it very stressful, I love all of the moments while in them. Thanks for sharing at #MommyMeetUpMondays.
